The author reviews his work from the last ca. 15 years (jointly done with many collaborators mostly placed around him) on homogenization asymptotics performed in the presence of defects.\N\NBesides explaining the known results around linear elliptic equations, he also gives a glimpse on what should one expect regarding the homogenization of nonlinear equations (such as Hamilton-Jacobi equations) when defects of periodicity are present in the model coefficients (or in the perforated domain). It is interesting to see that, for many of the presented homogenization examples, the author expects to be able to determine the corresponding rate of convergence justifying the asymptotics.
