The authors study Thurston's circle packings with obtuse intersection angles on closed surfaces and combinatorial Ricci/Calabi flows and extend Thurston's existence theorem for circle packings with non-obtuse intersection angles in this spirit. Under some conditions convergence results are proven.\N\NUnfortunately the authors do not compare their results with the very similar results of \textit{R. Yu. Pepa} and \textit{Th. Yu. Popelensky} [Lobachevskii J. Math. 38, No. 6, 1061--1068 (2017; Zbl 1388.53066)].
