The authors study a class of matroids arising from sequences of nested flats in Projective and Affine Geometries, called targets. They give a characterization of targets of Projective Geometries of order \(q>2\) in terms of induced restrictions. This complements a previous result of Nelson and Nomoto for the case \(q=2\). Furthermore, they characterize targets coming from Affine Geometries of all orders in terms of induced restrictions.
