The results in this work extend those in [\textit{A. F. Vasseur} and \textit{J. Yang}, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 55, No. 4, 3081--3107 (2023; Zbl 1531.35231)] on the boundary layer separation, i.e. the discrepancy between turbulent solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations with small viscosity and a laminar Euler flow, to the case of general smooth bounded domains in three dimensions. A key tool is a boundary vorticity estimate in the vanishing viscosity limit.
