This paper is dedicated to studying an SIS reaction-diffusion-chemotaxis epidemic model that incorporates cross-diffusion effects. Initially, the paper establishes the existence of a globally bounded classical solution for the Neumann initial-boundary value problem, given reasonably regular initial data. The primary focus is on examining the qualitative behavior of solutions of the proposed model, taking into account the complex interactions among nonlinear cross-diffusion, gradient-dependent flux limitation, standard incidence, and demographic factors. Additionally, for sufficiently small initial data, a result on global classical solvability is achieved under the condition that the space-dependent recruitment rate of susceptible individuals remains suitably small.
