The paper focuses on the connection between two classes of analytic P-ideals: nonpathological ideals (those generated by nonpathological submeasures) and matrix summability ideals (those generated by regular infinite matrices). The first main result is that an analytic P-ideal is the intersection of some matrix summability ideals if and only if it is nonpathological. Thanks to this, the author is able to list several equivalent conditions for an ideal to be nonpathological, formulated in terms of Katětov order, intersection of Erdős-Ulam ideals, density ideals and matrix summability ideals, and ideal convergence. The second main result is that a generalized density ideal is a matrix summability ideal if and only if it is nonpathological.
