The authors are concerned with an intersection-based remap method between meshes of isoparametric finite elements. The high-order ALE method uses a curvilinear mesh that deforms with the flow. The authors study some algorithms for a conservative and bounds-preserving remap of a numerical solution between two curvilinear finite element meshes. They restrict to the case of piece-wise linear reconstructions. Meshes containing QUAD8, a serendipity isoparametric element with eight control points, and QUAD12, a third-order serendipity isoparametric element, are mainly considered. Comments on the convergence of remap methods and their practical use are also provided.
