In this paper, the parabolic equation with time-fractional Caputo time derivative is considered and numerically discretized in time using the continuous collocation method. Sufficient conditions for existence and uniqueness of discrete solutions are derived. Two approaches are explored: the Lax-Milgram theorem and the eigenfunction expansion. Resulting sufficient conditions are verified both analytically as well as numerically. The results are extended to the semilinear case.
