The authors consider five coupled nonlinear ODEs. The dependent variables are nutrient concentration, phosphorus cell quotas (the amount of phosphorus in a cell) for two algae species, and the biomasses of the two algae species. They find conditions for the existence and stability of equilibria. Competitive exclusion and coexistence of the two competing algae species, depending on parameter values, are discussed.
