The authors introduce the Bézier variant of the generalized Bernstein-Durrmeyer polynomial operators given in [\textit{A.-M. Acu} et al., Result. Math. 74, No. 3, Paper No. 90, 24 p. (2019; Zbl 1423.41029)]. A direct approximation theorem in terms of Ditzian-Totik modulus of smoothness is obtained, and the rate of approximation for a class of functions of bounded variation is studieid.
