The paper studies epidemiological transition model of the Ebola virus in fractional sense. By obtaining the derivative of a fractional value in the form of a matrix, the studied problem becomes a system of nonlinear algebraic equations which can be solved by Newton's method. The existence and uniqueness of the answer have been investigated. The stability of the method is also presented. Numerical simulations are compared with a real case of 2014 Ebola virus epidemic in Liberia. The optimal value of the fractional order is determined for the example in question. Based on real-world data for the Ebola virus, the fractional Mellin transform, real data, Caputo's derivative, and the classical model are compared.
