Using a cutoff function similar to the one used by \textit{K. Ecker} and \textit{G. Huisken} [Invent. Math. 105, No. 3, 547--569 (1991; Zbl 0707.53008)] to obtain interior curvature estimates, the authors establish an interior (local) version of the noncollapsing estimate for mean convex hypersurfaces evolving by mean curvature flow. As an application, they show that certain convex ancient solutions studied in [\textit{X.-J. Wang}, Ann. Math. (2) 173, No. 3, 1185--1239 (2011; Zbl 1231.53058)] must be noncollapsed.
