The authors deal with variational convexity of functions in infinite-dimensional spaces. They formulate the Painlevé-Kuratowski outer limit of the mapping/multifunction \(F\) from the Banach space into its dual. The (Mordukhovich) limiting/basic subdifferential is defined via the sequential outer limit of \(\varepsilon\)-subdifferentials. It is the main tool in defining of variational convexity for extended-real-valued functions on Banach spaces. The characterizations of variational convexity via local maximal monotonicity of subdifferentials and local convexity of Moreau envelopes of finctions defined on uniformly convex spaces are stated.\N\NFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1531.46002].
