Abū al-Wafā' al-Būzjānī\ (940--998 AD) was born\Nin Būzjān (current day Torbat-e Jām) in Khorāsān-e\NRazavī province, Iran. \ He was an astronomer and mathematician, known\Nfor his work in practical mathematics of his time; namely, arithmetic,\Ngeometry, and trigonometry.\N\NThe goal of this paper is the study of the Arabic treatise\N\textit{Fīmā yanbaghī\ an yuḥfizu qabl kitāb\Nal-arithmāṭīqī }(\textit{On What Should Be Memorized Before\Nthe Arithmetic Book}), which is a mathematical glossary by\Nal-Būzjānī. \ This treatise includes 58 terms and their\Ndefinitions that can be grouped into four areas: \ number per se (1--12),\Nplane and solid numbers (13--25), number relations (26--36), and proportion\N(37--58). \ In the appendix, the author presents an English translation of the\Nabove 58 terms and their definitions. \ Also, the author provides the original\NArabic text of the aforementioned treatise that includes the Arabic\Ndefinitions of these 58 terms.\N\NFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1516.01006].
