A generalization of the Bernstein-type operators defined in [\textit{F. Usta}, Iran. J. Sci. Technol. Trans. A: Sci. 44, 1119--1124 (2020)] is introduced using the shifted knots. The convergence properties of these operators are studied establishing the rate of convergence in terms of the modulus of smoothness. A Korovkin-type weighted approximation theorem is also obtained. Finally a Voronovskaja-type theorem and a Grüss-Voronovskaja-type theorem are given establishing the asymptotic behaviour of these operators.
