A boundary value problem for Kawahara's partial differential equation, a one-dimensional semilinear fifth-order equation, is considered in presence of time-varying delay. An associated linear equation is introduced. Existence and uniqueness of the solution is proved under suitable assumptions. By using a Lyapounov function, exponential stability of the equation is shown.
