Let \(B_{n+m}\) be the mixed braid group of \(m+n\) strands (as defined by \textit{S. Lambropoulou} [Ser. Knots Everything 24, 274--289 (2000; Zbl 0976.57007)]).\N\NIn the paper under review, the authors compute the complete presentation and the Hilbert series of the canonical words of the mixed braid monoid \(MB_{1,3}\). The main result is Theorem 3.6: The Hilbert series of \(MB_{1,3}\) is\N\[\NH_{M}^{(4)}(t)= \frac{1}{(1-t)(1-2t-t^{2}+t^{4}+t^{5}+t^{6}+t^{7}+t^{8})}.\N\]
