Description This example dataset is designed for testing the gaia R package, an empirical econometric model designed to estimate annual crop yield responses to climate variables. The dataset includes global monthly precipitation and temperature data covering both historical (19512001) and projected (20152030) periods. Climate Data Coverage Historical Period (19512001): Monthly precipitation and temperature data derived from the WATCH dataset. Projected Period (20152030): Monthly climate projections based on the CanESM5 model under SSP245. Files Included gaia_example_data.zip: Contains the future climate data in NetCDF format, with global coverage. pr_monthly_canesm5_w5e5_ssp245_2015_2030.nc: Monthly global precipitation data (kg m-2 s-1) at a 0.5-degree resolution. tas_monthly_canesm5_w5e5_ssp245_2015_2030.nc: Monthly global temperature data (Kelvin) at a 0.5-degree resolution. weighted_climate.zip: Contains aggregated climate data at the country level, weighted by cropland area using MIRCA2000 data, for both historical and future periods. climate_hist folder: Includes country-level, harvest-area-weighted monthly precipitation (mm/month) and temperature (degree C) from historical observations (1951-2001) for 26 crop types, covering both irrigated and rainfed croplands. canesm5 folder: Includes country-level, harvest-area-weighted monthly precipitation (mm/month) and temperature (degree C) data projected from CanESM5 under SSP245 (20152100) for 26 crop types, covering both irrigated and rainfed croplands.
