Deep-Drawn U-Shaped Sheet Metal CAD Files Derived from NHTSA Crash Vehicles (Q6725077)

This dataset contains 90 U-shaped CAD geometries that are derived from the NHTSA crash vehicle simulation models. The geometries undergo a series of modifications: Shape Filtering: Select meshes suitable for deep drawing with a U-shaped profile. Duplicate Removal: Exclude symmetrical duplicates from vehicle structures. Boundary Representation Entity Definition: Place vertices on characteristic mesh features. Connect vertices with edges. Create faces from closed edge loops. Model Transformation: Orient models with drawing direction along -z, length along x, and width along y. The final CAD geometries represent the post-deep drawing state. Geometries are provided in neutral STEP format, each accompanied by an image. Further specifications are given in the associated publication(s). We want to thank the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for providing the crash models and the allowance to publish a dataset. We want to inform users of the dataset that a sophisticated engineering evaluation has to be conducted whether the provided models should be used in crash simulation.
