For transverse loading and an arbitrary cross-sectional distribution of the fibers, a general method is presented to calculate the stress deviations, based on solutions by the boundary element method of boundary integral equations for the dissimilar fiber and neighboring fibers. In this method nearest and next-nearest fibers are taken into account. The interphases are represented by the spring layer model. Detailed numerical results are presented for the special case of a hexagonal array composite.
