The paper is concerned with the problem of determining dynamic SIF of a penny-shaped crack in an infinite elastic medium, which is subjected to the action of time-harmonic axial body forces, placed symmetrically with respect to the crack plane. The solution of the problem is obtained by superposition of the solutions of two simpler problems. The first of these problems is related to the unperturbed (crackless) space under the prescribed axial body forces, while the second problem consists in finding the dynamic SIF of the penny-shaped crack whose faces are directly acted upon by some axial stresses. Fourier and Hankel transforms have been used to solve the problems. As an illustration, we determine the variations of the dynamic stress intensity factor at the rim of the penny-shaped crack for some particular body force loading cases.
