The authors treat spectral theory of elements of an ordered Banach algebra (with positive cone closed under multiplication). A generalization of the Perron-Frobenius theorem is established. If the spectral radius is monotone (in particular, if the positive cone is normal), then the spectral radius of each positive element is in the spectrum. The authors then study properties of \(b\) shared by \(a\) when \(0\leq a\leq b\).
