In this interesting paper, the author shows a relation between the surreal numbers introduced by \textit{J. H. Conway} [On numbers and games, Academic Press, New York (1976; Zbl 0334.00004)] and the LR-sequences occurring in symbolic dynamics (iteration of a continuous unimodal map of the interval), suggesting that the surreal Conway numbers might have applications to chaos theory.
