After translating into purely algebraic terms what it means for a symmetric space to have \(s\)-positive (or \(s\)-negative) curvature, the author gives a case-by-case study of the \(s\)-positivity (resp. \(s\)-negativity) of the curvature of irreducible symmetric spaces of compact (resp. noncompact) type.
