A generalized gauge procedure is applied to describe the dissipative effects due to dislocations. For uniformly dense distributions of dislocations, the dissipative effects lead to a scalar curvature of the conformally flat space corresponding to a single diffusing point defect. Finally, the author discusses the contribution to the interaction energy of elastic and inelastic interactions.
