A symplectic pair is a generalization of a symplectic manifold. It is a special case of a recursion operator, which appears naturally in the study of mathematical physics. The paper under review shows that the space of compatible almost complex structures on symplectic pairs is contractible and advertises the study of symplectic pairs using pseudo-holomorphic curve theory.
