The author surveys recent developments at the Centrum voor Wiskunde en Informatica (Amsterdam) on parallel stey by step methods for solving initial value problems for ordinary differential equations. The parallelism is parallelism across the method. The methods are described for scalar initial value problems. The first part is devoted to nonstiff problems, second part to stiff problems. The characteristics of the methods are presented in tables. The main theorems and definitions are given.
