The paper surveys recent results on ergodicity of billiard balls on the \(\nu\)-torus, \(\nu\geq 2\). Ergodicity has been proved for two balls by Chernov and Sinai (1987), for three and four balls (if \(\nu \geq 3\)) by Krámli, Simányi and the author (1991 and 1992), and for \(N\) balls (if \(\nu \geq N\)) by Simányi (1992-1993). The paper describes the main ideas of these results.
