This paper studies the conditions for a given function to be convex. Sufficient conditions for a lower or upper semi-continuous function to be convex are obtained. These generalize the well-known result that the monotonicity conditions for the subdifferentials imply the convexity of a locally Lipschitz function. Some interesting numerical examples are provided to illustrate the results.
