Time-domain solutions for hydrodynamic forces and moments acting on a 3-D body moving in waves (Q687411)

A summary of the author's doctoral thesis is presented, describing time- dependent formulations and solutions for the problem of an arbitrary three-dimensional body moving at constant speed through waves in deep water. A Green's function approach is used to derive integral expressions for the force and moment on the body, and explicit formulations are given for special cases of a sphere and spheroid. For more arbitrary geometries panel methods are used to evaluate the integrals.
