The author uses wave-like solutions to reduce semigeostrophic equations for a baroclinic atmosphere to a nonlinear constant-coefficient ordinary differential equation for the wave shape. For a detailed derivation of this somewhat surprising result, the reader is referred to the literature. The above mentioned ordinary differential equation is then discussed by analogy with the problem describing a particle moving in a given potential. The paper is rather short and suffers slightly from unusual notation and language problems.
