The authors show that it is possible to single out the lowest eigenvalue of an Schrödinger-equation: among all possible solutions, it is the only one for which a proper moment problem can be formulated. An infinite set of positive inequalities can be used to get the sets of lower and upper bounds to the unknown eigenvalue and eigenfunction. The effective computation is based on deep convexity properties. The convexity allows to get the bounds via linear programming.
