The authors prove nonexistence of 1) a harmonic map with rotational nondegeneracy at infinity from a simple Riemannian manifold (e.g. \(\mathbb{R}^ m\)); and 2) a nonconstant harmonic map with a polynomial growth dilatation from a complete manifold of nonnegative Ricci curvature both to a manifold of negative sectional curvature bounded away from 0.
