The authors investigate the value distributions of difference polynomials \(\Delta f(z) - af(z)^n\) and \(f(z)^n f(z + c)\), where \(f(z)\) is a meromorphic function, which are related to two well-known differential polynomials. They extend and improve the results for entire functions in [\textit{Z.-X. Chen}, Abstr. Appl. Anal. 2011, Article ID 239853, 9 p. (2011; Zbl 1234.30027)] to meromorphic functions.
