The author introduces the notion of almost generic automorphism and studies the fixed field of an almost generic automorphism of a field. This field is proven to be regularly closed in case the initial field is separably closed. In addition, its absolute Galois group is proven to be isomorphic to \(\widehat{\mathbb Z}\).
