The class of \(B\)-preinvex functions introduced by \textit{S. K. Suneja, C. Singh} and \textit{C. R. Bector} [J. Optim. Theory Appl. 76, No. 3, 577--587 (1993; Zbl 0802.49026)] is characterized by a property, which is reminiscent of quasiconvexity. For locally Lipschitz functions, a necessary and sufficient condition for \(B\)-preinvexity is obtained in terms of Clarke's generalized gradients.
