Three term recursion relation for spherical functions associated to the complex projective plane (Q702505)

The paper deals with a three term recursion relation for a sequence of matrix valued functions \(\tilde{\Phi}(g,w)\) on \(G=SU(3)\) built up of \(l+1\) spherical functions of a given type \(\pi_{n,l}\), associated to the complex projective plane \(G/K\), \(K=S(U(2) \times U(1))\). The main idea of the authors is to work with a sequence of \((l+1)^2 \times (l+1)\)-matrix valued functions \(\tilde{\Phi}(g,w)\) on \(G\) built up of \(l+1\) spherical functions of the type \(\pi_{n,l}\) which parallels the construction of \(\tilde{H}(t,w)\), where \(\tilde{H}(t,w)\) is a certain sequence of \((l+1) \times (l+1)\)-matrix valued polynomial functions.
