Wentzell boundary conditions for differential operators have been introduced in the context of diffusion processes. The aim of this paper is to present a general framework allowing a systematic study of the problem if second order abstract Cauchy problems for operators with Wentzell type boundary conditions are well-posed. As motivation one shows the connection of Wentzell boundary conditions to control theory. One focuses on second order differential operators on \(C[0,1]\) with generalized Wentzell boundary conditions.
