    Let \(N\) be an odd integer, \(E\) an elliptic curve defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic prime with \(N\) and \(E[N]\) the set of \(N\)-torsion points of \(E\). Using Lehmer's Uniform Step Method the author is able to arrange the \(N^2\) points of \(E[N]\) into an \(N\times N\) semi-magic square, i.e., a square in which the elements in each row and each column sum up to the point at infinity. The method is very explicit and provides the ``coordinates'' for the place each point should occupy in the square (it works for any abelian group having \(N\)-torsion isomorphic to \(\mathbb{Z}/N\mathbb{Z}\)) but it does not describe all possible magic or semi-magic squares.
