The authors demonstrate the existence of oscillations occurring in aircraft where the elevator angle exceeds critical values. They do this by studying the solutions of nonlinear governing differential equations. The focus is upon longitudinal flight. Results of a numerical example are presented. The paper is steeped in analysis and is somewhat theoretical. It will probably be of greatest interest to mathematicians working in stability theory and nonlinear analysis.
