The author discusses several classes of degenerate and nondegenerate boundary value problems of Sobolev type with a nonlocal source as well as finite difference methods for solving these problems. A key step in the approach is to derive a priori estimates for solving these problems posed in both differential and difference setting. Uniqueness, stability and convergence of the solution in difference form is presented.
