The authors revisit control synthesis problems for hybrid systems (continuous dynamics alternated with discrete dynamics, e.g. jumps, model switching). In section 4 the technique of dynamic programming is applied to this framework, with the help of generalized functions (or distributions, delta functions) modeling impulsive controls and dynamics. A simple example is recalled in section 2 (the classical bouncing ball), and a more sophisticated example is comprehensively described in section 6, namely a bouncing ball in space.
