Localization of invariant compact sets of nonautonomous systems (Q731594)

The authors consider the problem of localization of compact invariant sets for a nonautonomous system of ordinary differential equations. Their method is based on the study of auxiliary smooth functions of the space variable. They show that all compact invariant sets of the system belong to the union of some level sets of such a function. The method is applied to the three-dimensional system introduced by Vallis as a model of the atmosphere dynamics over the Pacific Ocean.
