The accelerated overrelexation method (AOR) is a development based on the successive overrelaxation method for iterative solution of large nonsingular linear systems. The authors consider a parallel symmetric accelerated overrelaxation method (SAOR) based on a generalised AOR and derive convergence results in case of a block diagonally dominant coefficient matrix. A numerical example is given.
