Christoffel functions for weights with jumps (Q745848)

This `pearl' is a companion to the paper by the authors on the asymptotic behavior of \(n\lambda_n(\mu,x_0)\) for the Christoffel function of orthogonal polynomials with respect to a measure having a jump discontinuity at \(x_0\) [Constr. Approx. 42, No. 2, 265--280 (2015; Zbl 1329.42024)]. It gives insight into the history of Christoffel functions with respect to (first) use and developments over nearly a century!
