It is known that the attractors of hyperbolic systems are solenoids, that is, limits of inverse spectra of complexes under continuous mappings. We construct algebraic invariants of the topological conjugacy classes of solenoids; using them we solve a problem posed by \textit{R. F. Williams} [Global Analysis, Proc. Symp. Pure Math. 14, 341-361 (1970; Zbl 0213.504)].
