The system of n quasilinear equations (with two independent variables (x,t)) arising in the isotachophoresis theory is treated; the domain where this system is strictly hyperbolic is described and the geometrical construction of the characteristics and Huigoniot adiabatic curves is given; these objects are described explicitly and the discontinuity splitting problem is also solved explicitly.
