Numerical aspects of a two-dimensional generalization of the KdV- equation, the so-called Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation is studied. Exact solutions of this generalized equation are as yet not known, a circumstance which adds extra motivation for numerical experiments. In this paper attention is focused on so-called bell-shaped pulses, which in many respects behave like solitons for this generalized KdV-equation.
