The paper discusses in rather elementary terms an optimal control problem and its solution. The most advanced techniques used are the Euler equation and Green's theorem. The problem is in terms of fishery management. A one-dimensional population model for the amount of fish is introduced and discussed. Then a profit function, with discount, is introduced. The solution turns out to be that the actual harvest must be such that a certain level of stock (determined by the problem description) is reached as quickly as the problem constraints will allow. For the novice this is an interest arousing paper. For the expert there is hardly anything new.
