Deformations of the normalization of hypersurfaces (Q752243)

Let X be a hypersurface germ which has a 1-codimensional singular locus S. Under certain mild assumptions it is shown that the functor of admissible deformations of the pair (X,S) is naturally equivalent to the deformation functor of the normalization morphism \(\tilde X\to X.\) In the case of surface singularities, this technique allows the authors to recover several results due to Mond, Pellikaan and Wahl.
